Some weeks ago I wrote about the difficulty of separating myself from my business.
I took the most important step and opened a bank account for my company. It makes me possible to let pay K2L‘s invoices to the company’s bank account. From this company account I will transfer every month my salary to my personal account.
This might seem unnecessary to you, but believe me, if you see less money on your personal account, you automatically go into saving mode. (the very first thing, every freelancer should understand, since our day can vary between being busy every hour, to having no job for a month, maybe more).
I already sent out the first invoices, and can’t wait to transfer money to the business account. Really, it is such a good feeling! Now, if I want to buy shoes, I will buy it from my personal account after I get the first salary from K2L (my company: Kiss To Language).
If I want to go for a conference or need to go for an interpreting job somewhere, I will buy the ticket from my business account. In this way I immediately can see, how much business expenses I have and also, how much money I really need to live (flat, food, drinks). Isn’t this a good idea?
My business will grow separately from me, its savings will be separate, its problems will be separate. If I see, that there is a gap in the invoices’ due dates, I’ll know, if I have to bid for some more jobs or can inquiry my clients, if they have something coming up. So transparent, so easy! Now I don’t understand, why I waited so long to do it!
New PC and printer will be there soon, right after I make the first analysis of my financial situation. hm….of K2L’s financial situation!
